How to install Strand splice?
How to install Strand splice?

GENERAL NOTES
1.01 Prefrmed Splices are precision products. To insure a tight assembly they should be stored and handled carefully to prevent distortion and damage, and should be installed as illustrated.
1.02 To reduce the possibility of distortion, do not use tools to snap the ends in place. The ends should be snapped in place as shown in 5.00.
1.03 At no time should the rod end be staggered in excess of 1/2 pitch length.
1.04 Strand splices were not designed nor tested for use on overhead shield wires and are not intended for that application
1.05 Strand Splices should not be reused after original application. Lay direction of both the splice and the strand should be the same. Most strand is left-hand lay.

2.00Tape the ends of strand with a thin layer of tape. Use the subset of the Preformed Splice which contains the greater number of rods and begin the application as shown.

3.00 Position second cut strand end against the first and completely apply remainder of subset. Do not exceed 1/4" (6 mm) separation of the strand ends.

4.00 Align center marks and apply second subset one or two wraps each side of center mark, then apply third subset in same manner. Now wrap on second and third subsets simultaneously.

5.00 For easier application, split the legs of each subset as shown.
