Aluminium Corona Suppression Ring Coil

The ADSS-CORONA Coil is installed over the ends of the Structural Reinforcing Rods of FIBERLIGN Dielectric Dead-ends or Dielectric Suspensions. The gripping section securesMthe unit to the Structural Reinforcing Rods and the coil section encircles the metallic rod ends, providing electrical shielding.Proper installation and positioning over the ends of the Structural Reinforcing Rods is crucial to the performance of the ADSS-CORONA Coil.

Different sizes of ADSS-CORONA Coils may be required for dead-ends and suspensions on the same size cable. The “Effective”Outside Diameter of the cable, plus the dead-end or suspension Structural Reinforcing Rods must be determined in order to select the proper size coil.Before installation, make sure you are using the correct size coil on dead-ends and suspensions;consult for assistance when in doubt.

One unit is required for the end of a FIBERLIGN Dielectric Dead-end; two are required for FIBERLIGN Dielectric Suspension, one at each end.

APPLYING THE ADSS-CORONA COIL

Slip the opening in the coil section on the ADSS cable, and rotate the coil until the cable is completely inside the coil section.

The ADSS-CORONA Coil is intended to reduce electrical stress at the ends of the metal rods of FIBERLIGN Dielectric Dead-Ends and Suspensions installed in high-voltage environments (areas where electrical lines are 115 kV and higher or areas where an electrical fi eld analysis places the space potential of the ADSS cable above 12 kV).
