ACSR Full Tension Splices
Sub-Sets: Individual rods assembled into groups of two, three, or four.
Core Splice: Galvanized steel, sub-setted and gritted.
Filler Rods: Aluminum alloy, sub-setted, or single rods, not gritted. Filler Rods are not required for selected sizes corresponding to tabular information on catalog pages.
Outer Splice: Aluminum alloy, sub-setted and gritted.
Center Mark: Establishes recommended alignment of rods during application.
Color Code and Length: Assist in identification of conductor size, corresponding to tabular information appearing on catalog pages.
Identification Tape: Shows catalog number, nominal sizes
On ACSR wires, the full tension line joint can maintain at least 90% of the ultimate tensile strength of the wire.
The wires should be properly scraped and lubricated before installation to ensure long-term connection, and should not be placed more than 360 millimeters away from other accessories. Do not reuse these connectors.
All Full Tension Line Splices are designed for splicing ACSR. The multi piece design holds both the inner steel core, and the outer layers. In some cases filler rods may be needed to bridge the gap between the inner core and the outer strands. The conductor will be returned to full conductivity when spliced with TNFTS.
On ACSR, full tension line splices hold at least 90% of the ultimate tensile strength of the conductor.
Conductors should be scratch brushed and greased properly prior to installation to ensure a long term joint, and never placed closer than 360mm from other fittings. Do not reuse these fittings.
Never reuse Line Splices. Any repairs should be made to span damage only, never closer than 150mm from an existing fitting.

(2) Rated Holding Strengths are 100% of the conductor rated breaking strength (RBS).
